Terms of Use

What you may do with the app, what you pay for, and what we do and don't promise.

Effective 4 September 2026 · Applies to the ShotTrans app for macOS

Your licence

Buying the app gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use it on the Macs you own or control, for as long as you like. You are buying a licence to use the software, not the software itself.

A paid licence covers future versions of this app at no extra charge. We do not promise that development continues indefinitely, only that we will not charge you again for what you have already bought.

What you may not do

Third-party translation services

The app can send text to translation providers you configure. Those are your accounts, and using them means:

Translation is machine-produced. It will sometimes be wrong. Do not rely on it for anything where being wrong carries real consequences — medical, legal, financial or safety-critical material — without a competent human check.

Purchases and refunds

Purchases made through the Mac App Store are handled by Apple. Apple is the merchant of record, and refunds are requested from Apple under their terms, not from us. We have no ability to issue or deny an App Store refund.

Free tier

The app includes a free tier with a daily limit on translations. Configuring your own API keys does not consume that allowance. The limit and its terms may change in future versions; a change never applies retroactively to a licence you have already paid for.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every future version of macOS, or fit for any particular purpose. Screen capture and text recognition depend on permissions and frameworks provided by Apple, which may change.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost data, lost profits, or costs incurred with third-party providers.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and consumer protection laws where you live may give you rights that these terms cannot take away.

Ending the licence

You may stop using the app at any time; delete it and its data folder. We may end your licence if you materially breach these terms — in practice, only for redistribution or circumvention.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the effective date at the top changes with them, and the current version always lives at this address. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. If you don't, stop using the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
